I would like to get a nice leather cover with refillable pages. There are covers made for Moleskin notebooks, but I would like to find a reasonable alternative in cost, and still have readily available refills.

Any suggestions?

Fine printe first - I am not affileated with any of these places. I just have them on my wish list as sources for my family members to purchase gifts for me. There are several sources. Pendemondium has one for $42, and refills for $20 (same refills at Swisher for $10. www.kschweizer.com has a leather tie journal for $28, and refills for $10. They (kschweizer) also has a Mediovalus brown Italian leather journal for $34.00.

I found numerous others, just doing a google search on leather journals. I haven't purchased from any of the places, but Pendemonium has an excellent reputation. They also have a leatherette refillable journal for much less than real leather (go figure! rolleyes.gif ).

I have this one from Barnes & Noble- http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/search/pro...n=9780737298123. It's a nice soft leather that can take a beating and yet is not to heavy to carry with me everyday

I use a Scully leather journal. The leather is nice, but the paper tends of bleed and feather with FPs. See previous FPN post.

The Scully leather journals comes in various leathers and are reasonably priced. Mine came from Artlite here in Atlanta. Many office supply dealers carry them.

'Have been looking at Roma Lussa leather journals... use google to find dealer; here's one. Also, see another previous FPN post. No affiliation w/ any contacts mentioned.

Good hunting!

Oberon Designs has beautiful covers. All hand made, hand tooled. www.oberondesign.com
I am not a number
This is available in the UK but you should be able to find similar and cheaper in the US.

I've ordered one of these as I can fill it with FP friendly 120gsm (32lb) paper. Also, once I've had a close look at it, I'll probably make a few myself...

I have a few covers from Renaissance too and I must say they are excellent quality, especially their overall fit. They hold the book they are designed for within a few millimetres of the edges.
I know they are about old worldly look and feel but would love them to make a slightly more corporate cover.
They have been advertising Clairefontaine in the "coming soon" section for close to six months so they must be around the corner.
If you are thinking about one of their covers I strongly recommend them - you won't be disappointed, and their delivery and ability to meet individual needs (I wanted mine without pen loop) is first class.

I second Oberon Designs. I've used one of their journals (large) for years and have only the best things to say about them. Their refills vary by size, but the large are $16.50 for two. The paper is blank, but it's just thin enough that when the lined template is placed behind it, faint black lines can be seen. It's great because you get the freedom of blank paper, but the neatness of lined! If nothing else, check out the site because the designs are really amazing.

I have leather journal covers from Oberon Design and others from Levenger. Since I keep my journals in pretty standard sizes (junior), it's easy for me to pick the cover I feel like.

THANK YOU for posting that website. Now I've got something beautiful to save for besides pens!

I, too, have several items from Renaissance Art. Regarding the Clairefontaine covers, they aren't on the site yet, but they DO have them. At least, that's what Arthur told me recently when I made a special order request. Just call their 800 number. Still doesn't fit my needs though, so I'm going to look into making my own cover. Just need to get my father to send me my old leather tools I've had stashed with him for the past 30ish years. tongue.gif

On Saturday I bought a leather A5 journal in Debenhams - £15 on sale for £12.
Nice leather cover (black or brown) stamped discretely Jasper Conran, with a tuck-in closure flap and small loop for a (slim) pen.

The replaceable journal is perhaps not the best paper (some bleed through with a wet writer but OK with a dry writer), but any A5 notepad would fit to replace it later.

It certainly looks better than my normal A5 pad in meetings!
