Full Version: Visconti Van Gogh Nib/Feed Question

I recently ordered a Visconti Van Gogh FP. Some issues at work delayed me having a chance to ink the pen and get some writing done with. Last week I finally had a chance to do so, and while the pen seems to write well I have noticed that the nib and feed seem to not be aligned correctly. Looking at the feed, the tip of the right had side seems to be even with the edge of the nib. On the left hand side of the nib this is not the case. I tried to take a photo but I cannot get one to clearly show what I’m talking about. My question is how serious an issue is this? Should I return the pen, or get a nib meister to work their magic on it? Your input is appreciated. Thanks.

Well if you just bought a brand new pen then there should be nothing wrong with it. it should be perfect. If not then take it back to the vendor and get a relacement, or if that is not possible send it to visconti, along with proof of purchase, and they should fix it, puts you out of pocket re: postage, but you will get a fixed pen, oh, make sure you give them anote as to what is the problem, as the pen will go to italy it may help if one of our italian members translates the problem into italian so that there is no misunderstanding.

However if the pen's appearance does not bother you, and the pen writes well, then you could keep it as it is, but if you are going to send it back the sooner ther better.

I know what your talking about. This is not a serious issue, just cosmetic. You can do two things, one, if it's writing good and the off center feed doesn't bother you, leave it alone and use it. Two, Send it back to Visconti or a nib mechanic to realign.

I hate this and have recently sent a new Conway Stewart Duro back to the UK to have the realignment done. I'm all for the pen being perfect for the money we spend.

You could probably do it yourself, I believe the Visconti nibs just screw out. But before you might want to attempt that, get advise from someone who'll tell you how to do it the right way.

My Van Gogh also had that issue but it didn't affect the usability of the pen at all.All inks flowed well.
I still use my tortoiseshell demonstrator all the time.
