Hello to all pen lovers.

I live in Athens, GA, a transplant from the plains of West Texas (and a 4 year stint in Boston, MA).

I look forward to getting educated some more, and having cravings flung on me as I look at your nice things.

My pens?

2 Parker 51's
2 Parker 61's
1 Mont Blanc
1 Pilot Namiki Vanishing Point
1 Hero 329
1 Ville D'Argent (I think it was made locally in Boston? Also says Metall)
1 Sheaffer Cartridge pen, unused, from the 50s or 60s probably
1 Old Sheaffer fountain pen that belonged to my Grandfather (says Lifetime on nib, 14k, looks like some of the ones advertised in the mid 40s)

My favorite? Depends on the use, but usually the Parker 51 . . .

Welcome aboard! Interesting collection you got going there. Glad you realize this place will increase your "cravings." Discipline is paramount the more you hang out here. Need a little more of it myself. Glad you joined us and looking forward to getting to know you better through the boards!

KDW, welcome.

I'm a transplant myself, (originally from up north) who decided to call the Big-G his home. How about them Dawgs?
KDW
I like them dawgs, but I REALLY like my TT Red Raiders! Even so, it's fun being in a place where the college sports are successful.

From where up north?

From north Jersey. Born in New York actually, but I lived across the Hudson.

Hi KDW and welcome to FPN! biggrin.gif

We have at least one other member from Athens, GA---"Thesaurus Rex"--but I haven't seen him in a couple of months (Hope you're OK, David!).

Nice to have you onboard

P.S. Any relation to FPNer "grasshopper"? There is a family resemblance in your current avatars... laugh.gif
KDW
I may have seen 'grasshopper' which inspired me to get the praying mantis. I've had avatars at other sites, and I used a giraffe with its head in the clouds. But I've always loved praying mantises, and it does remind me to pray . . .

Howdy KDW and welcome to the FPN! Your collection sounds rather impressive! How did you come to use fountain pens?
KDW
Hi Ron,

I really can't remember when my interest in FPs started. I think it was hanging around stores where they were sold and just admiring them. For some reason I was into pens anyway. It's odd to me that I enjoy them so. I don't have a very appealing handwriting and I cannot draw at all, but they draw me for some reason. Since I posted, I have since acquired a pen called a Crocodile which a friend picked up for me from China.

Hello there, my "cousin" laugh.gif and welcome to the Nuthouse. :bunny1:

Yes, that's an excellent avatar you have there. wink.gif cool.gif . As you can see, I have temporarily changed mine to a Halloween-themed one. Would it be ok for you to share the significance of the "giraffe head in the clouds" avatar that you use elsewhere (sounds cool.gif too)?

Some great pens you have there too, by the way. Of course, feel free to post a pic of that Crocodile whenever it's suitable for you to do.

And it's not odd that you like fountain pens, at least not here in the Nuthouse anyway. Pretty soon you'll realise that we're all extremely normal people here. wink.gif :bunny1: :bunny1: :bunny1:

Hi grasshopper - are you shure that is not a praying mantis pic? Here is my other avatar:

I'm hoping to get a camera for Christmas and then I could show the pen. I like it, but boy is it stiff in the nib.

I hear what you're saying about everyone around here being normal. My surprise at my penlove is because I have no idea what led me to them. I guess they were just calling me calling me calling me . . .
Mannenhitsu
I think that classy pens do have the ability to make us not only want to buy them but to put our best thoughts onto paper. I just wish that people would spend more time doing just that in today's society we live in.
