Hello,
My name is Drew Mills. I live in Indiana, USA and have been collecting and using fountain pens since acquiring a Parker 21 from my grandfather about 5 years ago. I'm not really a collector; I am more of a pen gatherer or pen hoarder. If it's pretty, I might grab it. Every pen I buy gets used at some point. I have no sacred pens.
Even though I prefer pretty colors and intriguing patterns on my pens, my absolutely favorite pen is a black Sheaffer Legacy. The weight and size fits my large hands well. And I had the stub nib ground and adjusted to my specs by Sheryl Tyree. It is the smoothest and loveliest writing pen that I have ever held in my hand.
Lately, I've been acquiring Wahl-Eversharp Doric pens. They are just gorgeous. I won't get too many of them, they are too expensive! But I do have a couple of beauties.
Most of my pens are contemporary pens. I have a few moderns (Targas mostly) and some vintage pens (a smallish collection of Esterbrooks and Sheaffers, and now the Dorics). I love a great bargain in a contemporary pen. One of my favorites is a Conklin Ohio FP I was able to purchase for only $70USD. What a deal!
For a living, I develop web sites and software applications. I am a single (currently in the midst of a divorce) father, raising two children, both boys, 16 and 13 years old. My other hobbies are music (both listening and performing) and reading. I also enjoy a good movie. Serenity and Kung Fu Histle are two recent faves of mine.
Well, that's a long-ish intro. It is my pleasure meeting you all. I look forward to participating on the forum. And I'm also on the Zoss list, so I may see some of you there!

Hey Drew,
What part of Indiana do you live in. I grew up in Elkhart (now living in Michigan).
Welcome to the board!

Greetings Drew,
Welcome to this nutty place where FPs rule!
Boy, when you get a great nib in your hand it is tough to put it down. That, for users, is the Holy Grail.

Hello Drew and welcome aboard! Very good intro - lots of good info to let us know who you are. I think you'll find most of us here, like yourself, are users / hoarders and not collectors. We enjoy using them too much, although there are a few exceptions. Whenever you can, we'd love to see some pics of your pens, especially the Dorics. Perhaps even a review or two

.
See you around the boards,

Kendall,
I live in Southern Indiana near Louisville in a tiny town called Greenville. My favorite horn was made in Elkhart, a Blessing Super Artist Cornet, about 50 years old.

Hi Drew.
Another Hoosier here. I'm from Richmond Indiana. So that's where my 1st pen is from.
All the best,
Maja

Well, if you are going to have a small collection of a particular vintage pen line, Wahl-Eversharp Dorics are a great choice! I have two myself, but they are the smaller-sized Dorics (Ladies'). I have one in Honey-Brown-Green and another in Morocco (Burgundy pearl)...and I love 'em.
Welcome to FPN, Drew!

Thanks for posting an intro here. It's always nice to know even just a little bit about the members here. Now you need an avatar!

Welcome to FPN, Drew.
I have mostly modern pens also but i have drooled over the Dorics for a long time now. I don't know if I'll ever actually *own* one. I think it would have to be one of those once-in-a-lifetime purchases but to me they are some of the most intriguing looking vintage pens out there. I do have a little Bantam set which is sorta like a Doric who had its growth stunted.

anyway, welcome and i look forward to more posts from you.

Welcome to the group.
How do you use your pens? Do you write letters? Keep a journal? Make grocery lists? I keep a photo journal not so much because I want the journal but more so I can use my pens.
