Recently I noticed that the grip on my "75" was a bit off-kilter for my liking; the "finger-rests" didn't quite jibe with where I would naturally hold the pen. I found that I was able to turn the nib and did so until the grip was where I wanted it to be.

Is this as it should be? I just want to make sure that I am not unscrewing, unsecuring, the nib. I am assuming that the nib was made to be turned, adjusted, considering the design of the grip. Thank you.

Yes, the 75's nib was designed to freely rotate. It was supposedly to accommodate various ways of holding the pen, I believe.

Great pen - enjoy!

Due to the design of these nibs they are supposed to turn, I caution you to remove any converter or cartridge before adjusting the nib. The end of these nibs (old style ones) had very long thin feed connectors which can easily be broken off. that you don't want to do. otherwise you can pull them out completely to clean or change to a different nib. ther are so very cool nibs available to put in 75's part of their charm to me. Great italics available and also both 14k and 18k nibs as well.
Suggest you go poke around parker75.com Click to view attachmentwebsite. lots of great info about these wonderful pens.

The rotating nib was a big selling point for the 75- you can adjust the nib to fit your personal writing style. If you notice in the examples above, the earlier sections (like the one on the right) have ruled lines and possibly a zero reference mark so you can calibrate how far you turn it. Parker made a tool to help users adjust them, but they aren't essential. As a lefty, I like the fact that I can dial in the correct angle so the nib always lays flat when I hold it. I wish Parker would bring this feature back in their new pens.

Many thanks for posting the pics framebaer.

Is it the case that all Parker 75's have adjustable nibs? Initially I assumed so, then saw many examples without the silver collar with the graduations marked on and thought perhaps those nibs were not adjustable. One of the disadvantages of having to learn about/buy pens from pictures rather than by handling them.

Next purchase will hopefully be a 75 , maybe one of the colourful laquer ones

Parker 75's were designed to be "modular" pens in the sense that it's easy to change the nibs, sections, etc. They can all be adjusted. If you look at the examples above, the nib on the right is the older style, while the nib on the left is the later version. They are not interchangable. That said, you can get a variety of nibs and swap and adjust them to your hearts content. The later finned versions tend to be plentiful and I believe that laquer 75's all use them. You can also get sections that will allow you to convert a FP to a ballpoint.
