It feels so good to prove the master guru of Esterbrooks wrong.
In his website Brian says: "Esterbrook produced a series of LJ sized pens now commonly called "Icicles" due to the pin striping of the plastic. These were made later in production, and all seem to have the later spoon style lever."

Well here is part my collection of Esterbrook icicles which show at several types of levers. First of all 1-3-5 from the left are very very late production (as explained by Brian - thank you ) - they also have "bad" quality injeciton molded section (it shows the parting line). No 2 from left is from Mexico and No 8 (all the way to the right) is from England.

Aaaahhhh, caught me. Actually, my statement isn't far from the truth, given my intention being grooved spade style levers are not seen on icicles. The late production injection moulded versions have the boring lever as seen in your 1-3-5, but I've not seen the lever on #4 (same as 7?), it looks English, is it?

Is #6's lever also a derivation? Interesting lot Antonios. You've bested me on this.

#4 says Made in USA. It is a very strange plastic. The body is almost close to a solid red rather than the icicle pattern. There are only faint sings of dark lines.

As for #6 - it is also unusual - that's all I know
