Full Version: Missing Bottom Jewel

Earlier today, I posted regarding a pen I had that had a threaded barrel jewel. Well, here's an example of one of my pens that has no bottom jewel. I am assuming that it came from the factory this way, as it still has the original price band on it and it does not look like the jewel was broken off.

These are the same pen, just different backgrounds.

I figure that since it was missing the jewel, no one bought it. That's why I found it as NOS! There's always something unique out there.

Weird?

Weird.

Interesting.

I've got a green SJ w/ _two_ chipped jewels --- makes me wonder what it'd look like w/o them (but I guess removing the cap jewel would be a problem --- does it seal the cap? Or does the inner cap do that?)

There is an ebay seller who sells Esterbrook jewels (3/$27) if one doesn't have a sacrificial Estie. Seller's name is tbagkdr. It may still be less expensive to buy a broken sacrificial pen, however.

William,

The inner cap seals the pen so you can remove the jewel if you want. If the jewel is a threaded jewel then it holds the pocket clip in place and you need it there.
