Yes thats an Imperial, the 797 is a "Imperial Triumph". Then the later model changed to the 2797 called the "Triumph Imperial" the same pen with a slightly longer clip. It's confussing why Sheaffer played around with the name i've never been able to work that out.
Thanks a lot! I was wondering because the front looks a lot like other Sheaffer Imperials I have but the back of the barrel is cylindrical, not squared off a bit like the Imperials I have.
This fountain pen is probably from the '90s, I'm guessing, right?
That pen was first produced in the 80s possibly late 1970s. I've checked my info and it seems this pen was called the Imperial Triumph to start with then they dropped the Imperial and it was called just the "Triumph" Im not sure if there is any difference to the pens. The later Triumph Imperial had the same design nib the "arrow style" as the original Imperial. This was introduced in the 90s.
I hope this helps, if you need some examples of the different models then let me know and i'll post some photos.
Enjoy your pen i remember the first one of these i brought how i have a whole collection of pens across the imperial range i found them to be addictive as they are such great writers and great to collect as there are quite a few models.
