I thought I was good to go on my collections, but I just realized that I have not triangle pens, or octagon pens... etc.
So - what's out there that is not round?
If I buy any soon, they will be CHEAP (<$100).
So take it easy on me (but bring them all!).

Do the indentations on the barrel of a Lamy Safari count? The barrel is round except for the grip section, which effectively is nearly a triangle (two straights sides, one curved one). Those can certainly be had for a good deal less than $100.

Hmm . . . Omas Paragon, Conklin Nozac, Retro 51 Double Eight, Cleo Skribent Ebonite, and that's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are others.

Nettuno Barracuda is square and lists for something like $180. But, the US distributor is gone and most retailers are closing them out at substantial discounts. If you can find one left in the US it won't be anywhere near list price. I just got one a month ago and I love it! Unfortunately they only come in medium.

James,
Your price limit definitely hurts, but perhaps an old-style Vanishing Point? If price were less of an object, I'd recommend an old-style Paragon. Best,

I think the OMAS Europa has 12 facets. but you will not get them below the Benjamin.

So far the old VP is the only thing that comes in under the price point. And I just missed one last week.
Thanks for the suggestions; I have some googling to do!

No, the Retro 51 pen is under $100 easy.

Funny you mention it, last night I got to play with a Rotring 600 for the first time. Hexagonal metal barrel and built like a tank and smooth writer... Probably my next pen. Daly's pen shop (no affiliation) lists for $99.

Ah yes, I actually have this one. In lava. I think it is very cool. But I forgot all about it. I will apologize the next time I take it out to use its XXXF nib and Noodlers.

I've seen a number of 3rd tier faceted pens on eBay that look like they're in really nice shape. They seem to typically sell for between $20-$30, as I recall. Some of them have very striking celluloid.

I've got a ten-sided, button-fill Wearever with a slight case of banana-ism. As it came in one of those "buncha pens" deals on Ebay, it cost about $3.50, shipping included.

I suggest aiming slightly higher.

Wahl Doric? Saw a nice black one on Ebay recently. Was tempted.

I like my Retro 88 which has . . . 8 facets. They are made of cellulose acetate (a kind of celluloid) in several really cool colors - mine is cobalt blue pearl. The fountain pen models cost well under your $100 limit at $65 to $80 depending where you buy them.
I really like the look of the Nettuno Barracudas as well, so far as I know they are the only 4 sided pen. My one issue with them is they are not a very long pen to begin with and you can not post the cap so unless you have very small hands they are uncomfortable to write with for very long. Depending on whether you get one with a gold or steel nib they seem to be available in the $80 and $120 range which is about your budget per pen.

I've got a Double 8, too. Great looking pen. Usually functions well, but as has been documented elsewhere on this site, there have been some issues with pieces and parts separating when they shouldn't. Aside from a cracked nib sleeve, no issues with mine that are showstoppers.
Next time I'm up there, James, I can bring it up if you'd like. It's definitely a looker.

Way over your budget limit, but maybe you would want to consider a Nakaya Dacpod, in Tamenuri finish? Ruud
