Full Version: An Esterbrook Math Challenge #1
The Fountain Pen Network > Brand Focus > The Esterbrook Forum

As we all know, there are vast variations in the Esterbrook arsenal but for this first "round" I will keep it simple.

1) In your collection, how many J Transitionals do you have? Forget the jewel and color variations just put the J's in one pile
2) Now, count the quantity of nibs you have loose or in pens.
3) Do the math, how many combinations of Esterbrook writing tools can you have. Remember, J Trans ONLY for now.

I am at work so I will post my results later today.

Clarification on point #2, do you mean actual working nibs, nibs in all esterbrook, different styles of nibs? (I know, being too picky...)

Ok, I'll play, back in a minute.

At best guess, but may be missing some styles of nibs tucked away here and there smile.gif Assuming solely unique styles of nibs, not total, otherwise probably around 14,924. biggrin.gif

Brian, I just might have you beat. Let's see, if I count the red one plus the blue one and the brown one . . . that would give me a grand total of . . . where's that darn calculator . . . ok, I got it . . . a grand total of 3 thumbup.gif

But wait, unless you have the same nib in each of those three pens, you could have as many as nine!!

Your right, I didn't read the original post carefully. My number would be 9, not 3. I might just be the only Estie lover who has never bought a nib without a pen attached, sad crybaby.gif

12

I think unsure.gif

10 pens and 12 nibs gives me 120 combinations of pens. Once I get the other two J models working I'll have 144 but 120 for now.
