I got a sample of this material the other day and sleeved a pen with it
today. It has a bit of translucency which is why there is a dark band
in the middle of the sleeve (it's the piston).

If you have an opinion about the material, I'd be interested to hear it
if you'd care to share it with me. Back-channel is fine.
thanks,
Chris Burton

Handsome, laid back good looks, Chris. Not flashy, but the bigger Pels can carry off a more subtle look like that.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Might I ask you all what you think of the material "as a tortoiseshell"?
I've been carrying the pen around with me today, and while I like how it looks, I am not convinced that it looks like what a tortoiseshell material "ought to look like". I can't tell if that is really the case, or if I have some sort of preconceived bias towards this stuff.
thanks for your input,
Chris

Hi Chris,
I think it looks very good on this 800. It gives it a nice subtle vintage look.I don't think I would have said Tortoiseshell spontaneously. More butterscotch, or toffee.
Whatever it is or should be called, it is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Denis.

Hi Chris,
Very nice work indeed!
Liek Denis, I would have thought toffee, or fudge as the English would call it. The lighter chocolaty fudge (which still is quite dark), mixed with a litttle of the more caramelly stuff. And all the glazed, tough, chewy variety, rather than the duller fudge proper.
HTH, warm regards, Wim

Thanks for the feedback folks. All this talk of toffee has my mouth watering! I think that when I get off of work tonight I'll be needing to get some.
