Full Version: A Happy Reunion!

So over six years ago, I traded with another collector for a rather unusual Dollar pencil in White, commonly known as a "Doctor's" pencil, as it matches the "Doctor's" Pens in white. This one was unusual in that it had the early round cutouts in the clip and did not have the common red or black ink indicator markings on the cap. While that may seem silly, most Doctor's pencils are marked with a black marking on the top part of the cap.

Here it is:

This week I received this pen in the mail. A match, and I do mean a Match!

To think they were apart for how many years, now to be reunited once again!

WOW.

Wow.

Some very unsual and ironic things seem to happen with pens that have names on them. It turns out that my Duofold most likely belong to a doctor. I googled the name on it and it was the name of a doctor who lived in Minnesota with a scholarship in his name and my pen came from Minnesota. What's the probability that someone who lived there would've had the same intials and surname?

That's really cool that they match, who would've figured.

Brian,

Very neat. The closest I've come is a AAA logo pen from one source and the matching pencil from another. Not such a big deal since there are lots of corporate pens out there, finding a pair (long separated) with a unique name is a long shot. Are you playing the lottery this week?

I don't make it a habit. I'd rather play the lottery with pens. Let's just suffice it to say with the other pens I received last week, it was really a GOOD week. smile.gif

I agree. If there is pen, particularly Esterbrook, karma, this is cosmic thanks to you for your fantastic site and your generous sharing of information.
Congratulations to all three of you. wink.gif

A friend of mine once reminded me of a quote by Louis Pasteur, "Chance favors the prepared mind". I'd like to think that is what has happened.

Thanks for the kind words Greg and everyone, I thought this would make for a good story, glad you have enjoyed. smile.gif
