HELLO
i have a green and black univer that is almost identical to one showm on W&B PENS AND WATCHES.The problem is that at this site and other places where UNIVER pens are shown the capped length is said to be 4 and3/8 in. Mine is 5 AND 3/8THS IN. I may have an oversized model or the pen barrel may not be a Univer as it has no imprint .The cap is a UNIVER and fits perfectly and the colours are close but some discolouration make top and barrel not exactly the same .
Was there and oversize UNIVER OR DO I HAVE A MIS MATCH[SOLD TO ME AS A UNIVER]?
Any info .much appreciated

Univer
Hi Keith,

Well, I couldn't very well stay out of this thread....

The short answer is: yes, there was a Univer pen that was similar, in size and profile, to the senior Sheaffer flattops. The ones I've owned or handled have had Univer "7-40" nibs. There's one in a photo I posted about midway through this thread: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=13901

I'm not sure what you mean by "green and black": discolored black-and-cream, marbled green and black, or maybe something else. You might want to post a photo; otherwise a definitive answer may be a bit difficult. Always happy to see another Univer!

Cheers,

Jon

My UNIVER (4 & 1/4 inches capped) is marked on the barrel:

Yes there are oversize Univer Pens. Is the pen a flat top or the semi-balance, and what is the diameter? Below is a link to photos of some Univer Pens. The black/pearl pen is the same as a Sheaffer oversize - and would really appear to be a Sheaffer rebranded as Univer. The lever in this pen is a Sheaffer lever. There is no barrel imprint. The jade pen is equal to a short Sheaffer oversize, and has the usual Univer lever with a barrel imprint. The semi-balance pens come in several variations but are all the smaller diameter (as far as I know).
