Greetings from DocNib's PenEmporium on this Veteran's Day weekend! Up for sale today is a hard-to-find Ltd.Edition Lead Crystal Desk Set made by OMAS of Italy back in the 70's. This set is NOS (New-Old-Stock), never filled, just dip-tested by me and contains a "trapezoidal-shaped" Lead Crystal base & a Black Celluloid faceted desk-pen with a flexible 14K nib...
I obtained this from the U.S. distributor back in the early to mid-90's, along with several other versions (already sold some years back!) and was told that these were only made for the European market in the 70's, but that a small quantity were found stashed away at OMAS & that some were being released to the U.S. market.
The particulars:
Base is made of Lead Crystal, trapezoidal in shape, 1/2" glass beveled down to 1/8" at the front giving it a narrow wedge profile, 6" wide at the front, 8" wide at the back & 5.5" wide on the angled sides.
Desk pen receptacle or socket is a Black Celluloid, faceted 6-sided hinged unit with Gold-Plated trim & will rotate a full 360 degrees and will lay flat if necessary.
Desk pen is Black Celluloid w/Gold-Plated trim, imprinted '67/100', just over 8" long, piston filler using the taper as you twist-knob, 14K/585 "EF" Flexible nib (Wonderful Nib!), middle barrel is faceted 6-sided like the receptacle.
Original Black-Leatherette hinged box (9"WX11"LX2"H), White Satin-lined w/recessed area for base, elastic loop for pen, White cardboard slip-cover w/original info stickers still attached ("6151 EF/#67/100" & "MADE IN ITALY").
Barely any shop-wear to base, pen & leatherette box but some wear spots on slip-cover & one edge has approx. 1" split...not bad for being made over 30 years ago & being handled by who know how many people!
