Can some one teach me how to change a phileas nib? Can i just pull out the nib and insert a new one?

Thanks a lot.

Can they even be replaced? I am a newbie here (my wife just bought me a Phileas) and I am wondering if it can even be changed.

I'm pretty sure the whole section has to be replaced. If it's a new pen, you can contact Waterman and they will trade it out for you - i.e. if you want a F - you can send back the M.

It's a new one, so I'm pretty sure it is a M, is there something on the nib that will tell me?

The nib size is written on the nib, 4 sizes for the PHILEAS:
EF:Extra-Fine
F: Fine
M: Medium
B Broad
You must change all the nib section like on the KULTUR pens, J.M.L.

Yes, my Phileas came with two nib sections: medium and fine. Just screw in one or the other and writing versatiliy is assured.

Hello, another newbie who got his start with a phileas here.
With this pen, do the nibs used have to be waterman nibs, or can they use other nibs as well?
Mine only came with the M nib, and while I love how it writes, it is a bit too thick for note taking with my handwriting.

I've found pulling Phileas nibs to be a royal pain (at least the ones I had were). The easiest way is to simply swap sections. The beauty of this is that you can buy a couple of Phileas pens for well under $100 and then trade the whole sections around as you feel best. You can even do it easily with the converter or cartridge attached- just unscrew and replace. I have, frankly, found it just not worth the time or effort to pull nibs. I have a few Phileas pens around and just swap the whole sections. They all seem to interchange. You can also interchange those blind caps and metal barrel rings too. If you have a favorite old Phileas you want to spruce up- you can buy a new Phileas and swap in fresh parts easily.
