Hi everyone,

Am asking you folks 'cos you're clearly more familiar with the bewildering array of Sheaffers out there smile.gif

I'm trying to ID a Sheaffer so I can look for another one like it as a present.

The original was lost, so unfortunately I don't have a picture. Only a description:

- bought in the 1980s
- inlaid "diamond" nib like the PFMs (don't know if it's steel or gold though)
- plastic body
- not as fat as the PFM
- C/C
- steel cap and steel clip (same silver-like finish), with white dot

What might be the likely candidates?

Thanks in advance!

Did it look like the pen second on the right in the picture in this post?

Nice link, HC wink.gif
(and I agree with your guess....)

Thanks for the replies so far.

Hypercamper - Sorta... The Triumph Imperial, being exclusively C/C, did cross my mind, but it came out only in 1995 right?

But yeah, the missing pen was probably an Imperial, but which one? wacko.gif

Been trying to get more details without making the person suspicious... the pen was also flat-bottomed, but no metal trim at the end.

Would anyone else like to guess?

Like the one in this photo? An Imperial 440, would be my guess.

Cheers,
Eric

Hey! That certainly fits the description the best smile.gif Is it C/C?

Which years was the Sheaffer 440 in production for?

Jim M. gives the date for this nib as late 60-70's, although they may have been generally available later still. His very informative article is at http://www.penhero.com/PenGallery/Sheaffer...rInlaidNibs.htm .

As far as I know (which admittedly isn't that far) all the 440's were c/c.

They come up pretty regularly on ebay, although prices have been increasing of late.

Cheers,
Eric

PS I know they were available in some places in the 80's as I bought one then (as I've been saying quite a bit of late for some reason)
