Full Version: Vacumatic, seeps between the section and barrel

Hi,

I have a 1946 Vacumatic that, as the subject says, seeps slightly between the section and barrel. I know the section is not glued in place (I can turn it). What's the best way to seal this? Will a little silicone grease do a good enough job (I guess I could just try that first), or should I shellac it together? Or something else?

Thanks!
SMG
Tryphon Section Sealant, it is formulated exactly for this purpose. Silicon grease may work for a bit, but could lead to a bad leak. The pros suggest Section Sealant, many hobbiest repairers do as well. I personally use it and have had exactly 0 failures in over 100 vacs. A little goes a long way and it is cheap to obtain.

Cheers,
Sean
