Actually, this is really aimed at myself. Purchased a new platinum and gold Legacy 2 recently with a M nib. This pen wrote smoothly, but seemed awfully wet;in fact downright floody!!
Sent it off to Sheaffer with a request to either dry out the nib or replace it with a F.
Now, with a F, it is scratchy and excessively dry. Also, the feed appears misaligned with the nib.
So, I guess it goes back, with a request to restore the M nib, and hope that the one I get will be a little drier.

Otherwise, anyone want to trade for a really pretty pen that I'm, at this point, not that happy with? sad.gif

Did you discuss this problem with the dealer you bought the pen from, or did it come from another pen collector? A good dealer would work with you to get the nib right.

This pen was purchased on eBay from a vendor in Vermont. He supplied me with the name and phone number of the customer service rep at Sheaffer. I think that some of the problem is with the (Potty Mouth) paper that we use here at work; I also think that I'm going to send it back to them with a request to replace the medium nib and hope that it comes back drier than it started.

Guess we'll see what happens. unsure.gif

Hi,

Recommend that you request they return the pen to you in the box you use to mail the pen.
Otherwise they normally put the pen in a plastic sleeve and mail it in a deformable padded envelope. Not safe imo. If you want to slow the flow you might want to try different inks. Florida blue tames the flow in my Sheaffer Legacy Heritage with a medium nib. If that doesn't work, there's always a nibmeister.

Good luck,
Jeen

Paper will definitely affect performance. Some papers wick ink out of the nib and feather ink badly. I'd try the pen on other papers and see if you notice a difference. I will say that good flow is one of the virtues of the Legacy medium nib, but on some papers you'll bleed.

thanks for all the ideas, esp. the one about using the original packing -- the pen did come back in a bubble envelope and I was amazed to see that it hadn't been damaged!!

They did include another converter, though. smile.gif
