I've never been drawn particularly to many of the LE pens - in no small part due to the cost. But also the sometimes (frequently?) over the top appearance just doesn't work for my decidedly utilitarian tastes and leanings ..

But I saw one of the CS Churchill pens in black pattern ebonite on the green board and, well, I was wowed by that pen. I liked the look of the old Waterman Opera and obviously find that black patterned appearance appealing (I've certainly eyed some BCHR pens with envy) and that CS pen really combines a stunning pattern that remains decidedly subtle at the same time.

Anyway - I'm not likely to afford that or my other "reach" pen which is one of Chris Burton's custome binde's, but a guy can dream can't he?

I also like the "chased black ebonite", that's why my next LE pen the "Doctor's Pen" is based on this material.

Here is the computer generated what the pen will look like when it's done. The Caduceus will line up with the clip of course on the final version.

kev - First congrats on the promotion! I didn't get a chance to post that elsewhere. Second - that is a fine looking pen. Now if you'd only come out with one in the same pattern with the scales of justice ... wink.gif

Thanks for kind words. So, we have a lawyer in the house. I have emailed Dennis to come up with a lawyer pen, since he is a lawyer by day, and a CS dealer by night, so I thought I give him the honor. Glad you like the pen.

Yeah, and I bet I get the job to come up with a "Schmuck" pen. Wonder who'd be good to contact to make that one tongue.gif

Roger - LOL! So have you gotten your new Pelikan yet? wink.gif
Roger
Yes and no. tongue.gif

If you mean the M1000, yes...if the M800 with Chris' "steel quartz" custom binde, no. Actually according to Chris' delivery info on his web page, I should be another week or so, but Dennis got my hopes all up when he said that he thought Chris might get it done last weekend.

I'm reluctant to bother him. Chris is one busy boy right now, what with his last term as an undergrad, then, hopefully off to med. school after that. Family, school, fulltime employment and pen work as he can sandwich it in. Whew!

Hi Kevin,
What a lovely pen...Now when are you going to create one for pharmacists? wink.gif wink.gif

Speaking of lawyer pens, Jim Gaston and Bexley pens co-designed one called the Gaston "Bexley Salute to Lawyers" Pena few years ago (2000)....

Makes me wonder now if I should have a custon one made with a baguette clip, a beret cap top, and the rest in navy and white stripes celluloid. The final touch would be an ink with brown tobacco cigarette smoke fragrance, and the colour of Reblochon crust.

Stylo, are you with me on this one ? biggrin.gif

Don't forget: the nib has to be hard starting. It will either dry up completely, or gush generously depending on it's mood.

Thanks.

Just heard from Chris yesterday and the "steel Quartzized" 800 is finished and will hit the mail today or likely tomorrow considering today's Columbus Day holiday.

Would you believe I haven't inked the 1000 yet? tongue.gif Only did the soapy flush out and got sidetracked before it got its first drink of the Wim break-in ink...WM B-B, naturally! biggrin.gif

In the style of the streets of Philadelphia, "I'll leave ya know" all about both. It's a given, though, that they'll be great writers. A side light is that I find that a few passes of the dry nib across paper will translate quite reliably into how a nib will feel when inked. The first things I do when taking possession of a new pen is to check the alignment of the tines with a loupe, then a few circles, eights and signatures with very very light pressure on paper. Without fail, I have a pretty good handle on how that pen will feel with ink. No more, though, as you don't want to pick up fibers from the paper in the dry nib. Good to check the nib after the dry test with the loupe again.

I was interested in the photos in your post. I have just bought a Black Ebonite Churchill LE which loos identicle to the pictures you enclosed, however the metalwork on mine is silver coloured. I say silver coloured as opposed to silver as there is no hallmark on the metal.
