Full Version: Sheaffer Desk Base of the Week #28

This week is just some odds and ends of animal figurals. Basically sets that were issued between 1928 and 1930. The fish is one of five often thought of as a set being on opposing pages of the 1930 catalogue (the cat, the cobra, peasant girl and caddie make up the other 4). The turtle and the fish are the more common of the two so value those between $150 and $300 each. The Moose is at least $350 and the Geese would be $350-$400.

Roger, thank you so much for posting more fabulous pictures!

The fish and the geese bases are the best! I really want one of each now... and a moose, too! And while I'm at it, the turtle is impossible to resist...

Kalessin;

Thank you very much. For me the Moose was the most dear as until a few months ago I'd not seen or heard of it's existance and a couple of us have had our eyes looking for some time. The others are uncommon especially the geese.

Roger, thanks for posting the images. They are all beautiful desk sets but those geese are such a beautiful design.... wub.gif

Congratulations on acquiring all of them!

Roger, the sets are wonderful. Your pictures are amazing. I especially like the geese.

The moose is my favourite. Could you post a pic of the marine green desk pen?

What fun desk sets!! You must have a big desk or several desks!! Do you put them up for display, or keep them packed away? Do you rotate which one is on your desk like everyone else rotates which pen to ink this week?

Great desk sets! I too like the fish and the geese.

I just received a Sheaffer desk set (2001J) last month, with a very simple, shiny black base (rectangular, polished marble?)... with a Sheaffer TM snorkel. I am surprised how much I enjoy it and use it. Always ready to right.

Wow! The geese is my favorite. They look sort of whimsical sitting around "the lake."

OK, several questions...

For Pedro...

I hope this is what you want to see the the marine green desk pen - I'm showing two here -

Perry-

They stay out all of the time. I don't rotate them and actually use a Conklin deskpen and a Parker Lapis deskpen on my desk - I need to pick one of the Sheaffers to use as well but, I don't get around to it. I need shelves bad! I did not take pictures of the Bureau and the trunk and the lower shelf on the wall and the other odd places...Here are some shots of the bases unposed -
