Hello:

I am thinking about selling my Pelikan M400 in the Marketplace. It is used, Medium nib, 2-tone color nib, very light scratches in the barrel from screwing/unscrewing cap. Working flawlessly. Blue/Black stripes. I was thinking $125. I've been looking on the web (new $250) What would be a fair price? Thanks.

Whilst I am a newbie on this site (and please excuse me if I breach any rules about naming other sites etc.), I would suggest $125 may be a little ambitious.

One well-known auction site seems to have quite a few M400 pens cropping up for sale (I have only just started getting back into collecting pens so having bought an M1050 I am looking for some others to accompany it). Typically they seem to end up at around the $100-110 level for a mint example. I think that $125 for a used example may be a tad high.
Col
PenGallery price: $135.

I don't know I think I would start at $125 and see if it sells, I wouldn't go under $100 for sure!

Thanks for the replies. As a newbie, I'm happy that I was able to decipher the approximate cost of a FP. With your help, opinions and information, I've come to expand my understanding of fountain pens a little. There is so, so much to know, but you guys make it fun!

Thanks again!

I concur. That's the beauty of the mktplace.
