My girlfriend now has a Pelikan M700 Toledo. As of last weekend, the pen sports a nice medium stub (thanks to Richard Binder!). I find myself lusting after this pen and pinching it from her when she's not looking. I like that hers has a monotone old-style nib. The new duo-tone nibs that the Toledo comes with are just an extreme mismatch in my opinion. I normally don't like gold trim but on this pen it just looks so classy!
That is one beautiful Pelikan! Any Toledo fans here?
I would love to get my hands on the reproduction from the "Originals of their Times" series, but I can't bring myself to spend 2000 bucks on one single pen (I don't even have the money at my disposal for pen purchases which makes life easier! roflmho.gif )

So, what are your experiences with the Toledo in various versions. I think it's one of their nicest non-LE pens. Nice heft and yet very usable! Not one of those jewels that you just admire in the case but a consummate pen for those who love to write.

I have no experience with the Toledo except that I like the look of them a lot. The green is nice but the red Toledo is a hot looking pen. It's on the list for some day if one comes up for a decent price.

I agree with you that the red is a looker. I saw one at the Ohio Pen Show. Cool gadget. However, I have to say that I love the original colors much more (green ink window, gold, and black). But that is a matter of taste, of course.
Did you notice that the motif is different on the sterling and the gold version? On the sterling pen, one of the Pelicans opens up her beak in order to feed her young.

Being German, every time I look at the pen or touch it or write with it, I have to think of my home country and Pelikan's great tradition of pen making. That is one of those quintessential pens in my view worth owning.

Hi All,

I have a red Toledo in regular rotation. I agree that this is a solid pen with just the right heft that asks to be used. I wrote it up awhile back (see http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...4&hl=toledo ) and after using it regularly, I'm even more enthusiastic. So sorry greencobra, you've got a long wait for mine wink.gif
