Does anyone know who might make kits, or replacement nibs for kits, for calligraphic or italic writing?

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob...

I would check with Dick Blick art supply as they have a fairly decent calligraphy section. If you don't have one local, they're on the web.

Depends how fancy you want them...

I saw a Sheaffer calligraphy set with 3 nib sizes, 14 cartridges, lettering guide for $28 at Office Max.

Current Calligraphy kits available at various stores :

Manuscript - reviewed by Caliken recently here on FPN Michael's has them
Sheaffer - mentioned by Luis above
Panache (by Speedball) Dick Blick carries these

kits which are discontinued and getting harder to find:

Osmiroid
Platignum
Sheaffer Targa Set
Rotring ArtPen - most Dick Blick stores I've been in still have stock

I believe Parker has discontinued the Vector Calligraphy set also.

Both www.paperinkarts.com and John Neal Bookseller have a variety of kits and nibs available.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll buy one of those if I can't make one.
What I intended to say (and I see it was a bit awkwardly phrased) was, does anyone make hardware with calligraphic nibs for turning one's own pen.
I've checked the usual places (Berea, Woodcraft, etc.) and none of them have calligraphic type hardware.

Thanks again,

Bob

On Marketplace here, this seller is offering kits with a variety of nibs.

Doesn't Bob's question have to do with the availability of pen-turning kits for making one's own fullly-fledged fountain pens with italic or calligraphic nibs? Most of the replies above seem to have to do with commercial finished pens (lovely, but not home-made) or dip pens (also lovely, but not fountain pens). If I knew of any italic fountain pen-turning kits, I'd post details; alas, I know nothing but I'd like to know something, should anyone else happen to be in the know. Perhaps one has to turn a standard pen from a kit and then regrind the nib to an italic.

Yes, what I really want to know is if there are pen-turning kits that have calligraphic nibs as part of the kit.

There are no kits just for calligraphic pens. Both CSUSA and BereaHardwoods sells Clligraphic nibs that fit the smaller pens. I have a Sheaffer nibs that fit the smaller pens as well.

Another option is to get some nib holders that fit into 7mm brass tubes. Standard calligraphy dip nibs fit into these. Stiles and Bates in the UK are the only ones I know that carry these. I have about 25 of them. If you would like to try a few, send me a pm.

After searching the net with no success i have reached this point
And found some hope !!!!LOL with your note
I would dearly love to have one or some of these nib holders
I am delighted to hear they will fit 7mm tubes!!!!!
i would be glad to bear any expense in the exchange of these
I hope to hear from you soon
