Hi everyone
Just found on cutepens that they are selling also ink.
That's what they say to it:
Camel is one of the best Asian Fountain Pen Ink manufacturing companies.
Its a Dye based Ink & the best part about this Ink is that it contains a special substance named CAMLI-SOL 100.
This substance cleans the pen as the Ink flows.

Anybody tried that Ink and has experience with it? (availlable in Green, Red, Black & Blue)
What do You think of "Dye based" and especially the cleaning additive?

Camlin Royal Blue ink is one of the best blue inks that I have used. http://www.camlin.com/spe_ink_div/fountainpen.asp

The blue is much deeper than quink, skrip or pelikan 4001, all of which I have tried. Other color that I would recommend is the Crimson Red. I would not recommend the green and the black. Violet and blue-black are also available.

Bril is another indian company whose Blue and Laurel Rose are also excellent inks. http://www.brilindia.com/penink.htm

Hari

Any links to sites where we could purchase some of the Camlin and Brill inks? Thanks.

Almost all fountain pen inks are dye-based. The few that aren't dye-based (search the FPN for "iron gall," "ferrogallic," "Pelikan Font India" and "carbon ink") contain pigment powders instead of or in addition to dye molecules; they must never be allowed to dry up in the nib, and the pen must be flushed every so often. Dyes don't require such caution.

Some inks have more cleaning additives than others.

Camel / Camlin sounds good! I just looked at the swab in Clark's book, and it does look nice; medium-light but more opaque than many competitors. The pH is reported at 5.6, which is more or less "neutral" as far as inks are concerned. It can be bleached out with eradicators like the Pelikan Super-Pirat, which is convenient for students.

I am not aware of any sites that sell Camlin or Bril. Send me a PM with your mailing address and I will try to send a few bottles across to you.

Today I bought Royal Blue and Permanent Violet. I wanted also to try their black, but didn't find it. I didn't try yet to fill pens with it. Tried dip pen and put some drops on Waterman Hemisphere's nib. Blue has beautiful colour, but washes out easy. Violet is too light as to me, but is really permanent. Written text is readable after giving the paper a good bath.
The ink comes in 60ml bottles which makes it cheap enough, but I didn't like metal cap of the bottle, which wasn't easy to open and I had to exchange caps betweed the two bottles to make them feet the bottles well.
I'll write about the black ink when I get it.
