I bought a used Pilot Custom (I don't know model) but now I find that I cannot separate de converter from the section. The con-70 converter is one solid piece with the section, so much so that it seems as if somebody glued the converter in place. I am trying soaking it in water with detergent but so far going nowhere. I would appreciate any ideas as to what to do. Or perhaps recommending somebody who could do it professionally?
Thank you. George

hi penfan22
i have a pilot custom 742 with the con-70 convertor
once it goes it, its a tight tight fit,
you can remove it by twisting and pulling at the same time
be careful, try to wrap some rubber tubing round the convertor when you do it
one time, it was on so tight, i twisted it and the nib unscrewed.
just be carefull and it will come of. unlike the other convertors, the con-70 attaches
to the nib section with a lot of material,
btw, if you cant remove it or afraid of damaging it, try just flushing it with water + ammonia solution 1
0 part water : 1 part ammonia
this will flush out all the old ink
the con-70 is pretty good convertor, try not to remove it too often as all parts are plastic and
under the immense friction, taking it on and off many times can loosen the convertor or break
the plastic
best of luck

MY THANKS TO THOSE WHO READ MY POST AND ESPECIALLY TO ROGUESW
Your post explains the whole thing. I had finally decided that I was totally wrong and that the convertor was embedded forever into the section, but it puzzled me that such a nice pen would have such a contraption. Now I understand. Anyway I have given up and I am returning the pen and getting my money back. The pen is very nice but it isn't worth the struggle. Thanks again. Sorry I can't post correctly; I haven't got the knack of it yet. George
