Is it normal for a Pelikan 150's nib's slit to stay smeared with ink?(Or any FP for that matter) no matter how hard I try to wipe it won't clean off. Well it does on my hands:)

I tried taking tissues and move it on both sides of the slit to remove the ink.

It depends on the ink. Many inks have a tendency to Creep or smear on the nib. No matter what you do the ink will keep doing this. Some inks that do this are Private Reserve Tanzanite and Noodlers Legal Lapis. Many others have been know to also do this.

Well I am using a noodlers ink. So I guess that explains it. Thanks for the quick reply. I'm very new to fountain pens.

I learned a new word "creep"

I have to say my fingers are smeared with ink

Thanks

After reading the other Topic regarding "Noodlers" it makes me wonder if I should stick with this ink? I was suggested it whereI bought my Pen. I also heard great things about it on this board. It was my first choice since I am left-handed and it is said to be a quick drying ink.

If it dries fast enough for you... keep it. I have two inks (PR Spearmint and Orange Crush) that I like but i cannot get them to dry so I rarely use the,.

Don't sweat a little creep if you like the ink. I keep Noodlers in a few of my pens and I just deal with it. One is a converter and I get ink all over the inside of the barrel - but it's worth it for the bulletproof.

I am not a big ink junkie. I have about six bottles, and three are blue. You should try a few inks and settle on your go to ink, but Noodlers is a good start.

I have my Pelikan M150 loaded with Noodler's Aircorp Blue-Black, all the time. I've tried a few other inks in it briefly, but keep going back to the Noodlers. It gets wonderful shading with the M150 fine, for some reason.

I'm right-handed though, so dry time is not really an issue for me. That would be the only reason I can think of to switch inks, if you're otherwise happy with the performance and appearance.

(and FWIW the nib frequently does look like your first picture - not the second, though)
