Awhile back I sent my CS Churchill (Steinway pen) for a nib exchange. The pen now has a small leakage, that I think is comming from where the nib/feed unit meets the grip section. I believe this pen has a nib/feed unit that simple screws into the barrel. My thought on this is when the nib was exchanged, they did not place any sealant on the threads of the nib unit.
Not knowing the workings of a lever filler, I thought I had better ask here first. Could I simple unscrew the nib unit, place some silicon/plumbers wax on the threads and screw it back into the barrel?
I'd rather not send a pen off when there is possibly a simple fix.
Thanks all,
Bryan

Hi Bryan,
If the nib/feed just unscrews, it is easiest to use either silicon grease, or maybe Giovanni's rosin sealing wax. The latter is designed exactly to accomplish this, as far as I know, although slicon grease should do the trick too. I think plumber's wax may look wrong, considering it is yellow (over here it is, anyway).

Bryan,
Just realized a little too late it is a lever filler. In that case the sac is attached to the back of the feed, very likely, so unscrewing the nib may damage the sac.
The proper procedure would be to open the pen completely, remove the sac and clean the sac nipple on the feed, unscrew the feed, use your sealant of choice, screw the feed back on, attach a new sac, dip it in talcum, insert it into the barrel and tighten/fasten the barrel again.
HTH, warm regards, Wim
