I'm a little confused about Legacy's. I love the pens - nice and heavy, and my favorite. I have one and am buying another.

I'm confused about a plastc "legacy" that is very light, and slightly smaller - it does have an inlaid nib - but the barrell is more narrow at the end and is shaped in a soft edged conical.

I have both - the plastic one seems to sell for around $100 - and the other at the usual $200 and up. The confusing part is I've seen the "smaller version" for $200.oo.

THere must be some way of identifying these two other than the price.

Thanks to all on the board.

To the best of my knowledge, Sheaffer NEVER made a plastic Legacy pen. All Legacy series pens, the Legacy I, Legacy II, and Legacy Heritage, all have caps and barrels made of metal, not plastic. Not only that, but the Legacy series pens were only made in one size. You'll need to look up the Sheaffer Imperial and Triumph Imperial to find pens that are plastic.

There is no plastic Legacy. Sounds like you are describing the thinner but very similar looking Sheaffer Triumph Imperial pen.

Thanks guys -

I think it must be a triumph. Some of the ebay ads might be misleading.

My thoughts as well, sellers often confuse them, I have pointed out to ebay sellers on a number of occasions (sometimes been told to mind my own business, but there you go), I can't think of any plastic Triumph Imperials worth anything like $100 never mind $200.

OK, I seem to have made a mistake on my identification for my pen (in other threads), but you and Woody have, I think, straightened me out, and possibly the poster you are responding to in this thread. Doing a bunch of digging on the PH site I think my “Legacy” is actually a Sheaffer’s Lifetime Imperial VIII in the touchdown version. (But I still count 7 lines and blank on the gold-filled cap, not the proper 5 lines in the article. Digging through several articles it seems, at least to me, that my pen is probably from 1963, but don’t hold me to that. Whatever, it is still one great writer. But at least I am likely to be much closer in describing it now than I was before. Still at only $36 including shipping and handling I think I did well enough.

Thanks to both of you.
