I've posted some scans of the Penman Sapphire, Ruby, and Emerald inks on my blog along with a few close current production inks. You can find it all here:

Parker Penman Inks et al

I'm sorry to make you go to a different site, but I'm still working on it and need more than twelve hours to be able to edit it and get it right.

Cheers,
Kate

Nice and very thorough job, Dilittante! That gives me, alas, several new inks for the list...

I like Visconti Burgandy as a nice Ruby-like substitute. It is more on the red side and less on the purple side, though.

PR Plum is a nice nice color that gets a bit of the plum and brown notes of the Ruby...so between the Plum and the Burgandy I am covered.

PR Burgundy Mist is a bit darker than the Visconti Burgandy...still nice...photocopies better, I must say.

This has confirmed my strong desire to get PR DC Supershow Blue. I have been trying and trying to get it at my local B&M store. I'm about to throw in the towel and just order some from Swisher or Pendemonium.

That PR Arabian Rose does look very nice too...gotta get through my Visconti bottle first, though...

Thanks Kate. It's great to see all of those together. I love my DC Supershow Blue (2005 Edition). And your scans are great quality - what settings did you use?

Very nice! Great job on the scans! How about Penman Mocha???

Thanks very much !

J.English Smith -- Get the DC Super show Blue: it's a wonderfully vibrant ink.

Opus 104 -- I use an ancient edition of Adobe's Photodeluxe which I received free with a scanner I've since replaced. I use their guided scanner setting with: the printed page, 100% size, and color photo options. Then I try the instant fix key: "Extensis Intellifix" to see if that helps. If it still is off I go to color "variations" and play with it until it looks right on my monitor. So far, I usually get the main ink correct (usually all of them are correct as this point), but some inks like the Penman Ruby just scan really strangely. I've yet to get that to work without everything else being thrown was off. I don't know why this happens or how to fix it. Suggestions would be most welcome. (I'm trying to steal my husband's uber version of Photoshop. Apparently he thinks since Adobe gave it to him to work with his software, Lightwave, he should use it for that instead of just handing it over to me. Silly man. wink.gif )

Pakmanpany -- I'd be delighted to add Mocha. You don't happen to have a bottle lying around that you could send me, do you? roflmho.gif Seriously, if anyone would like to send me a sample, I'll put it up there. It's the only Penman ink I don't have. crybaby.gif

Thank you very much for the comparisons, Kate! I applaud your efforts to find/concoct inks that are a close match to the Penman inks. No wonder I like PR Sherwood Green and PR Arabian Rose so much! laugh.gif
