I've been hearing for the past year that the bordeaux colored FP, RB and BP's and going away. I've heard they've already ceased production, I've heard they've announced that they will be stopping it, I've also heard it's not going anywhere. The website no longer lists it as a color for the Meisterstucks, but it's not too hard to find them from dealers.
Anybody know?
What has been your experience with MB ballpoints or rollerballs? I have very little experience with them and wonder if I'd like them. I do like the fountain pens.
I've never owned an MB ball point, but the rollers are very nice - when you have a refill that works that is. I am amazed at how many of the refills will write a couple of pages and then begin skipping, yep skipping, or out of the blue will increase and decrease line width. THey will also often make strange crackly noises as you write. There must be a bit of a quality control issue with the roller refills or they sometimes sit around unsold or something or have a poor shelf life if you buy several at a time. I don't know what it is, but I do know for sure that *I* have had this problem more than what should be considered normal "defective" percentages. That being said, I must reiterate that when you get a good refill, they are absolutely fantastic writers.
I'm actually waiting for them to take the next step with the fine liner tips and making it available in an extra fine. It's a fibre tip refill which works in the standard (not legrand) sized roller ball pens but at the moment, that thing throws a considerable amount of ink on the paper and seriously bleeds through almost anything like a magic marker or the old "Flair" tip pens. I buy Waterman roller balls for the sole reason of using their fibre tip refills and they write so incredibly nice... super smoooooth and even. Effortless glide. I think MB's would also if they decreased the tip size.
I love the feel of the MB rollers.. just be aware that you'll probably run into bad refills every so often.
