Well done, people. Absolutely painless for me here in the UK. Does everyone agree that it seems about ten times more snappy now?
There is something admins might want to note though, regarding topic notifications. From my mail server logs:

It's snappy, for sure. But I noted a problem too.
I received a "new message" that I had not only received a day earlier but responded to. All subsequent communications apparently went into cyber limbo. So I'm guessing any undelivered messages out there for people at the time of the switch went poof. The "new message" was from the day before yesterday, so it's possible much of yesterday's PM traffic is missing.
Might want to tell people using the Marketplace to resend. Otherwise those "first to responds" are going to be skewed.

I suppose I should be thankful that FPN was down for most of the evening. I actually spent some time conversing with family members, rather than having my nose buried in the forum.
It really is good to take a break now and again, even though I don't want to at all.
Thank you, admins, for your thankless efforts, which are not thankless to me. My wife used to be an admin on a non-FPN board, and I know how much time it can take, if you do not watch it very carefully.

Thanks to all involved. I got on this morning with no problem at around 6 am in Boston. However, when I tried later on around 10 am, I could not get on at all. Nothing, nada. Firefox, Safari, IE could all not find the server. I tried all the computers in the house (3). This has happened occasionally in the past, but I'd sort of hoped the switch-over would change that. In any case, I'm on now and glad to be on again. Well done, everyone! (I only forgot twice during the evening and tried to check in.)

Yes, thanks Col, I just noticed that too.
Looks like we may have forgotten to configure the mail server properly.
Looking into that right now, just that it may take a day or two before it's fixed, as we are going from a hosted account on a VPS server to a full-blown VPS server.

I am not certain of the reason for the server switch; however, I still have difficulty connecting fairly frequently, sometimes for an hour or more. I try 3 different browsers, (Safari for Windows, my standard, if no joy, Firefox, if no joy, Internet Exploder) to eliminate browser issues as a cause.

Understood - thanks for that.
My own mail server is configured to check to see if the domain specified in the FROM: statement has a valid MX or A record in the DNS - fpnhost.fountainpennetwork.com appears to have neither at present. These checks are more or less essential these days, to help to prevent DOS attacks or SPAM. However, I've simply excepted your host domain to allow the messages through, so no hurry with the fix as far as I'm concerned.

On two occasions since the switch over to the new server I've been unable to connect to FPN during the wee hours of the night/morning.
These have both occurred when I'd already been on FPN for a while. On both occasions I was trying to preview a message when I suddenly couldn't connect anymore. The most recent time when this happened was at about 12:50 AM (ET) this morning.
Any advice? I see it's happening to someone else too. Are we all experiencing these non-connections at the same time?

Same thing here- except it happens during the late morning or early afternoon as well for me. It will be working and all of a sudden stop entirely. I usually can't access for awhile, and then it will work again later. Sometimes around these periods the board will be slow to load as well.

Our Special Ops people are working on it with the server dudes/dudettes. If I understand the gibberish correctly, there's something about memory stuff and optimizing a bunch of consonants, disabling some dohicky that overlaps with another dohickey, and changing some other setting, and another one, with a tweak of something else. Gotta love the Special Ops people! (That's their new title, they don't like IT Guru)
