Hello Everyone,

As promised: Some snapshots of my latest arrival. The Parker Duofold Orange. clap1.gif
The biggest question of all for now is: "What color of ink to put in?" hmm1.gif

Geetz,

Nicolet

A classic like that deserves a classic ink. I'd suggest Parker Quink Blue, Waterman Blue/Black, or Waterman Florida Blue.

That is a nice pen, it will be hard to loose that one on your desk.

I am thinking a Sonic Blue from Private Reserve would be very nice! thumbup.gif

I recently acquired an older version of that pen and faced the same dilemma. Decided on Aurora Black, which suits it just fine--unless you consider black ink too boring.

Lovely pen in a lovely color!

No I don't think Black ink is too boring. I'm kind of experimenting with some different blacks. But here in Holland it isn't always easy to get al those beautiful ink brands so I have to order it from elsewhere.
I like Noodlers bulletproof black very much, and I'm also a fan of blue-black's. clap1.gif
So I just keep on trying till I've got the right combination of pen and ink.

I just saw this post.............thats a beautiful pen and I always wanted one like it.

May I know what was the price?
Pjake
Nicolet...that...right there is a beautiful pen! I am in search of something very much like that also.

Congrats!!!!!

As for ink...I think that Diamine Blue/Black has a very retro look to it...You could also go with a brownish color which (on creme colored paper) looks VERY retro. Waterman Havana Brown is a very nice brown.

Enjoy the beautiful pen!

Thanks everyone!
Well I've experimented a little. Now I'm trying some pelikan blue. But PR Burgundy Mist did pretty good in it too and Tulip Noir was pretty too.
Next one to try will be some Noodlers Aircorp blue-black I think. Maybe some FPN van Gogh Starry night.....
Well we'll see what will happen next.

Nicolet,

Your post is named "First Vintage Pens", but isn't that a modern production Duofold?..
penmanila

Not to me I'm not the first owner. tongue.gif And it has a broad arrow nib and not the rond end at the cap and the old Parker logo on top of the cap....
A friend of mine who has a lot of duofolds said it was vintage. I'm not into Parker that much so I don't know.
What's the criterium to call it a vintage then?
fatehbajwa
It should have been made before you were born. wink.gif

i think this one's about 8-10 years old? no longer in production, even as a remake, so it's still a pretty precious pen, and could cost even more than a real '20s big red.

The 1960's is typically considered the cut-off for vintage pens. After that, they are "modern" even if they are used or pre-owned. The original "red" (orange) Parker Duofold was produced in the 1920s. What you have is a remake/homage, that was produced in (I believe) the 1990s.

If you look at this thread here, there is a picture that compares the one you have to the original ones.

The quickest way to tell the difference is the clip: The modern remake has an "arrow" clip, whereas the original one was a "ball" clip.

Thanks everyone!

I'm a little more into Parker Duofold now thanks again. thumbup.gif
