Hi,

I just purchased three MB inks - Bordeaux, Racing Green, and the new Violet - and only the Bordeaux box says "with Super Cleaner SC21" on it. The box itself is slightly different, with the other two looking a bit newer with a white line through the center of the black box with the Mont Blanc logo in the center while the Bordeaux box has no white line, only the logo at the lower center.

So, my questions are:

What is the "Super Cleaner SC21" and what will it do to my pens?
What is the difference in the boxes - just that one is older or is there more that's different? A different line of inks, maybe?

Any help with this will be appreciated. I'm hesitant to put the Bordeaux in a pen until I know what that Super Cleaner SC21 is.

I would not dwell on it as it is most likely a marketing term for either the detergent they have switched to or the unadvertised detergent they have been using for years, or the detergent they decided to stop advertising.

Both the box of Bordeaux I bought this month and the box of Black I bought last year say SC-21 on the other box.

Thanks for your answer. I think you're right that the Bordeaux is an older bottle. Other graphic clues include the color dot being smaller, etc. And if I read the code on the bottom of the bottle correctly, it's from 05, while the Racing Green is from 06 and the Violet is from 07 (that last makes sense considering it's a new offering).

I'll probably use it a while in a cheaper pen and watch what happens (if anything). The colors are all beautiful, though, so worth the testing.

I have bottles of MB black, blue, and bordeaux with the notation "with Super Cleaner ..." and bottles of Sepia and Racing Car Green without the notation. The latter two, I believe, were produced later than the first three.

I don't know whether they stopped adding Super Cleaner or just stopped mentioning it. Maybe somebody else knows.

The main purpose of MB Super Cleaner is to clean your wallet from its content.

MB has been adding detergent that they nicknamed "SC-21" for a long time; I'll hazard a guess that it's still in the formula even if it's not mentioned on the current boxes.
