Full Version: Want a Century II - How is the Deco finish?

Ever since I lost my matte black cross FP twenty yeas ago in college, I have been contemplating getting another one.

The finish consisting of alternating smooth bands and bands of 4-5 thin stripes is what quintessential Cross is to me (like probably almost all of you, I have a number of those Century ballpoints given as gifts to me or my dad). I could go for a silver finish FP, but I don't think it is worth it, so I could just get a plain chrome finish and get the look I am after on the cheap.

But I noticed a long time ago the Art Deco finish. Sometimes I find it attractive, but sometimes I think it is a little weird, busy, or too funky. Of course, merely seeing photos of such a finish cannot do it justice. So to those of you who have seen it or who own it, does it look more attractive in person? Does it still scream Cross! How different does it look in person compared to the photos (of which there aren't too many).

I have a "deco" Century II (as well as sterling and a black laque). To my eye, the finish on the Deco is closest visually to the Parker Sonnet in the chiseled tartan but the platinum plating makes it shine more than the Sonnet or the sterling Century II. The plating also makes it less likely to go dull or tarnish in use than the sterling models.
The shape is classic Century II and anyone familiar with the line will identify it immediatly.
The only image I have of it readily available is from the ads but I'll attach it
