I have seen some very cool pens in my life, but this one is amazing! Also, not to mention expensive.

Why so amazing? As far as diamond-encrusted pens go, I would take the Montegrappa Peace Pen over that MB every time.
IMO, diamond chips are nothing to get excited about.

I feel as though the wonder of an amazing fountain pen is its mutual aesthetic and functional value. A pen like this just feeds way too much on the aesthetic (a poor aesthetic if you ask me) and would leave the owner terrified to actually use the pen. Plus, how comfortable of a grip would diamonds provide? Too ridiculous for me, but I see how people are amazed by this one.

"Writing instrument" pffff. It's a pen okay? Ridiculous.
This reminds me of when I lived in Florida. I am somewhat of a boat person and hang out with boating people, cruisers mainly, some of whom sail around the world in a modest sailboat. It's a "culture" that I'm very familiar with. I also know a number of licensed captains who are captains of yachts in Florida. Down in Florida one will find thousands of big yachts, each worth millions to many millions, with a full time captain and crew to maintain the boat, and if you talk to the captain and ask if the owner ever takes the boat out and uses it for what it was designed for, the answer is no. Once in a while the answer will be, yeah we take a one week trip to Bermuda once a year. The boat just sits there at the dock, requiring constant maintenance and consuming money and energy, but it never goes anywhere. The owner simply has huge amounts of money and likes the idea of owning a yacht. And there are thousands of these down in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. It's astounding.

Every time someone points to one of these pens that none of
us use, you get the same predictable put down responses
How about we pin it to avoid the repetition?

I got to where the reporter asks - "Are there a limited number of these made?"
Gee - "Check out the big brain on Brad!"
No, they're gearing up for full production - thankfully, soon everyone who has a Hummer, a trophy wife and a mini-mansion will be able to have a $160,000 pen - ah - writing instrument thingy.

Speak for yourself. I have a fine Montblanc that is a tribute to Guy Fawkes and everything he stands for. The pen is an absolute firecracker I tell you.
