I was wondering if OMAS' 360 series (full-size) is well-constructed with respect to the cap fitting snugly on the pen. I am more partial to screw caps than pull caps. How does the 360's cap withstand time and use? Does it wear out? Or does it keep up pretty well? Does the material ever get damaged? Just wondering what your experience is as I might be eying one....

I have a few celluloid and resin 360 FPs and must say that the caps have been pretty tight fitting except the Burkina, as it has a metal front section. The inside of the cap has a replaceable three prong clip that also holds the clip in place, but I have not had to replace one yet.

Had a 360 for a while (full size, piston filler) in blue-black. Great writer and held a ton of ink. Sold it to fund another pen. I had no problems with the cap unless you're talking about posting. Posting it was a bit insecure, but it's such a huge pen that it's totally unnecessary.

Hi,

The cap three prong holder was invented for the Omas 361 back in the '50's. pretty much all of the caps closed this way are still closing properly. smile.gif

My full size 360's cap fits firmly and snugly indeed. That's probably a factor in its corrosion problem. There's a screw in the deepest point of the cap's interior that grew green fuzz like it was an overripe battery. That was after flushing, then drying the pen with the cap off for 24 hours (after filling and using the pen for three days from a new bottle of Pelikan blue-black ink.) If you search FPN you'll find one or two other references to corrosion problems with Omas pen caps.

I can't say how the cap stands up to repeated use, though, because I've been reluctant to refill and use this particular pen ever since.

The cap on my 360 fits much better than the one on the Arco Paragon I have, which is a screw-on.

I have a number of 360's. Two of the ones I've purchased in the last year or so have needed to go back because the caps fit too loosely - first an orange mezzo, then the 360 Lucens. Both were fixed satisfactorily, even though I was grumpy about the need to have done so.
