My mother had - and cherished for many years - a ball pen that had belonged to my late father. Unfortunately she has lost it and I would dearly love to replace it for her.

It was a part of a set of black duofold pen / ballpen (photo attached illustrating the FP model)

My problem is that the ballpen in this style seems to be a bit scarce to say the least. So that I can begin to track one down it would help if I knew the correct name of what Im looking for (...!) Can anyone tell me what model of duofold this is? The BP had the deep chequered band around the cap base and was a push (rather than twist) action. Since Ebay seems a bit of a dead end, any recommendations for dealers?

All help gratefully received!

Regards

David

ps - Whoops - maybe should've gone in the Parker forum, but, hey...

Others with more extensive knowledge will be along shortly to answer more definitively, but I will tell you what it looks like to me.

That looks like a Senior version of my 1962 Junior Duofold, which was produced in your country. My Junior only has one jewel, on the cap, not one on the barrel as well like yours. What are your pen's dimensions? Mine is 135mm capped, 112mm uncapped, 158mm with the cap posted, and 10mm barrel diameter.

Hi Bristolian,

The pen in the picture is a Duofold New Style (N/S) Parker's first Duofold offering after WW2 and dating 1946-8, there was, as far as I can find out, no ballpoint in this series or the following Aluminium Filler range (1948-53) only a pencil.

I don't think that there was a production ballpoint in the UK Duofold series until 1953 when the Aerometric/Sac squeezer range was introduced, the earliest definite reference I can find to a Duofold b/p is 1954.

As far as I know a black ballpoint from the Aero range would be as near a match as would be possible, these b/ps were paired with just about every version from Junior & Victory to Maxima and all sizes in between over the years.

Cheers, John

I am not a vintage Parker expert. May I recommend either the good folks at Pendemonium or David Nishimura. Either of them might provide you with information and perhaps a pen to buy.

The depth of knowledge here never fails to impress! Added to which I have sourced a suitable pen.

Thanks so much to all responders.
