Thanks for this review. I was soooo disappointed by this ink when I first bought it (despite warnings from people such as BilltheEditor), but now I revisit it from-time-to-time for what it is - a good green ink.

thx for the review.

That's an interesting comparison, because I've looked at the color swatch and thought "not for me" but I use Gemstone Green, and like it fairly well. I guess the name is too incongruous with the color and it turns me off.

Yet another example of an ink that is labeled BLUE but is, in fact, GREEN. What is it about blue and green inks that causes the inkmasters to give blue names to green inks? I've never seen it work the other way around.

Yeah, I just bought PR Purple Mojo, and while I like the color, it is not very purple-y. Definitely more in the blue-purples than violet-purples. But the color swatch on the label has far more red in it than the ink does. Sometimes their names are a bit tricky, you really have to dip test them.

I'm a little alarmed that when I opened the post I immediately thought "That's a Miquelrius 4 subject notebook!", even before I read the end of the post. /end nonsequiter
Anyway, nice little review. I have this ink and would use it more often if it didn't bleed so badly in my moleskine, and if it were just a tad more blue. As others have commented, it should have been called Green Suede. It also looks rather like Skrip green to me.
Lately I've been using it mixed with Waterman Florida Blue or Pelikan Royal Blue, half and half, and that's pretty close to the color I *thought* Blue Suede ought to be

I once had this ink, but never liked it. Its a kind if neon colour, not friendly to the eyes.

Thanks for the review. Thanks to Pear Tree Pens' ink sampler program, I knew what Blue Suede looks like, but I had no idea it was so close to Levenger's Gemstone Green.

Blue-Suede is one of my faves. I always keep it filled in my VP Ice Blue (which doesn't seem real blue to me, either).

Catsmelt, your review is perfectly legible, no problem reading it at all. Thanks for doing it--we needed one on this ink!

Thanks for everyone's feedback.
My disappointment in the Blue Suede / Gemstone Green similarity is that I already have Gemstone Green -- while I like it, I'm more of a blue and black ink user. God knows when I'll use up both of these inks.
I have to say, though, that Blue Suede is less prone to feathering on cheaper paper.

Thanks for the review. One can never rely on the name to be a true indication of the ink.
I went ahead and ordered this ink since I love the colour teal.

This is one of those inks that I've tried in multiple pens to try to find the pen that would show it off best and in a way that I wouldn't get tired of it. It's almost too too much for me when written on a full sheet in my medium and even fine nibs. BUT, I finally tried it with my dip pens, and I like it much better that way. It's not so in-your-face green. It's a very very dark black-looking green, but as the ink begins to play out in the nib, I get lovely dark green shading. I've decided it's a keeper for me for use with my dip pens.

The colour hurts my eyes too. Tried it in several pens but always came out the same. Was hoping for an elegant blue but it was green fluorescent.

Good review. Mine looks a little darker and not quite as green. I guess they very from batch to batch?

I couldn't tell you for certain, but that wouldn't surprise me -- I get the impression by others here on FPN that PR tweaks their recipes every so often.

hmm, wonder if thats what the "reformulated" pr tangerine dream is about (in the index of ink reviews)...

For those of you who find the colour too much, mixing PR Blue Suede with Polar Blue 1:1 makes a nice blue teal. Other blues might work too.
I personally don't mind PR Blue Suede but it doesn't hurt to play a bit.

Interesting! I just mixed Lamy turquoise with Polar Blue and liked it - guess I'll have to try this one next. The Lamy + PB was incredibly wet, though. Firehose wet. How is the Blue Suede and Polar blue for flow?

I'll try to get a pic up in a bit.
I find the Blue Suede/Polar Blue mix is on the wetter side. It also has a tendency to creep which it probably gets from the Polar Blue.
Edit:
Here's a writing sample. Not the best pic but it will have to do for now.

Yes, I am surprised how well the two inks blended. The green tinge is barely there.
I had a drop of water fall on some of my writing with the Polar Suede ink mix and the Blue Suede part of the ink bled away and the Polar Blue ink remained. For those who like some permanence, this ink mix would work well.

Thanks for the suggestion. I purchased Blue Suede a year ago, sight unseen (I was merely going by description on the web site), and was quite disappointed. It's a harsh color in my opinion. I have not ventured into mixing inks, but it's good to know I may be able to make some use of Blue Suede by mixing it with other colors.

That's certainly why it would be worth mixing it, not just for the colour.
I just tried this mix and in real life, it does have a bit of green tinge, more than what shows on my monitor. But it's still really nice - it actually looks what I would *expect* Blue Suede to look like. Does anyone remember an Adidas shoe from the mid-70's called the Gazelle? It was the cool gym shoe to have when I was in high school. Anyway, it was made of blue suede, and this mix comes pretty darn close

It has about the same flow as the Lamy Turq/PB mix I had tried earlier. Really, these mixes are very close, with the Blue suede mix having just a bit of an edge with the green. Great mix - glad you suggested it, Penache.

It's always good to have options, girlieg33k. I really hate to have any ink go to waste.

BTW, thanks for all the ink reviews you're done recently. They've been very helpful.

I really need to get myself some vials since I seem to be mixing inks more and more.
