I recently acquired a sheaffer snorkel TM model ('52-59), it looks like a "sentinel". It was bought in Canada (and is stamped "made in Canada")
One thing curious about it is the triumph nib on it.
It differs from 'regular' American made triumph nibs in two ways: 1) Following the nib from the point to the base, one notices that the second curve on it is just slightly "deeper" than on the American triumph nib. 2) Near the base of the nib (where it attaches to the section), the 'band' of the triumph nib that encircles the section, is just slightly "narrower" than on an American triumph nib.
I like it a lot - it looks daintier, but writes just as stiff as a regular triumph nib. It is fully interchangeable with the regular nib, and is exactly the same length, too.
My questions are : a) has anyone seen this kind of triumph nib before? b)How easy/difficult do you think it is to find a replacement for it? (are they rare?). I need to either get a replacement or re-tip it. And I havent seen it anywhere else online, in fountain pen stores or on Ebay, though I havent been looking that long either.
I could of course use a regular triumph nib on it since its fully interchangeable, but I rather like the 'daintier' look of this nib and would like to fix it or replace it if possible.
Thanks for any help! I can post a close up picture of it if that would help (if no one knows what the hell i'm talking about!)
