Hello everyone!

I'm totally new to collecting fountain pens . . . I know nothing aside from what I've picked up surfing this site over the past three days.

I actually owned a FP in the past. I was switching jobs, and 1) my old job offered to get me a nice 'going away' gift; and 2) my new boss used a nice silver fountain pen at my interview. I put these two together and selected a silver fountain pen as my gift. It was some type of sterling silver Waterman, but beyond that I have no idea (maybe I can post a pic of the cap and someone could ID it). Unfortunately, shortly thereafter I dropped the pen and must have damaged something in the cap . . . it would no longer stay tightly on the pen. As luck would have it, one day at a meeting out of the building with the pen clipped away in a leather portfolio, it somehow slipped out of the cap and the pen was lost. I still keep the cap sitting in my desk drawer.

That was about five years ago. A few weeks back for some reason I started thinking about getting another pen. Being a lot more internet-savvy than before, this time I started some online research, and found this site. I started out just looking for some reviews of a Monteverde pen that caught my eye at Office Depot . . . but soon realized that I could do much better!

After quite a bit of reading here and other surfing looking at prices, pictures, and availability, I've made my purchase . . . a brushed copper Sheaffer Legacy with a fine nib (not a Legacy 2, nor a Legacy Heritage, but a plain Legacy NOS from a few years ago with the Touchdown filler system). This was a great combination for me . . . there were enough good words written on the pen on this site to make me feel comfortable getting it; it fit squarely in my budget; I really wanted to buy a pen made in America; and I loved the size, design, and overall looks, particularly the somewhat unusual brushed copper version. My only choices were a fine or broad nib, so I picked the fine . . . I hope that works out.

I expect to get it in the mail shortly as it was supposed to ship out today. Now I just need to get some ink . . . I'm thinking perhaps some Noodlers since I like the idea of waterproof ink and they have some nice colors (I'm partial to both dark green and purple).

This is pretty exciting, and I hope to continue learning from the site after I get my prize!

Welcome to FPN!! I bought a Brushed Copper Legacy a few years back from Jim Gaston. It is a very nice pen and a good writer! Welcome back to Fountain Pens. Hope you enjoy the ride!!

ArPharazon,

Welcome to Fountain Pen Network!

The creativity displayed by your post most assuredly reveals an artistic nature/predisposition. As such, the art/graphics
world may need to be placed on high alert once you've been 'armed' with that gaggle of fountain pens you're seeking!!! biggrin.gif

BTW - Your brushed copper Sheaffer Legacy is anything but "plain" (!)

Please post often . . . and do keep us up to date regarding your fountain pen collection addiction.

Best Regards from Encinitas, CA.

Welcome to FPN. I have more Sheaffers than any other brand in the pens I own. They all are very nice writers.
