So, hopefully you all saw the nice report that Maryann did from the Michigan Pen Show that we put up at Penpedia. I am hoping to do the same for both Dallas and NY/NJ. Is anyone going that would like to donate a little showroom floor news and a few pictures? I'll be happy to discuss arrangements with anyone, though I still hope you're willing to do it out of the kindness of your hearts, to share a love of pens with those who can't make it to the shows. Yes, I am totally trying to butter you up. Let me know!

I might be able to do this in Dallas, if you don't need someone who can hang out during the whole show. If someone wants to collaborate, that might be a way to expand the coverage. Especially if the other person is an experienced collector (I am not, and don't personally know any of the people who will be exhibiting there other than Sam and Frank from Pendemonium, Lowell whatisname, and Presnall Wood.) If Robert Aia knows someone from the club who would be better qualified, I will gladly relinquish the job.

Media questions: Can you handle video uploads on Penpedia? Audio (podcasts)?

I will be happy to add my observations and thoughts, to use or discard, as you so desire.

Media answer: I will handle any media you want to throw at me. In fact, this would probably be a good excuse to set up a YouTube account. Let them handle the streaming bandwidth. But regardless, audio, video, you take it, I can post it. I can also edit it.

As for a collaborative report, I'm all for it. This is my flexible nature. I think that could make for a neat, dynamic story.

Donnie, are you following this? Do you want to partner on covering the Dallas show?

Not to complicate things, but do you require a release from people who appear in photos?

Just don't take photos of kids and there shouldn't be a problem. If anyone asks what the pictures are for, tell them of course. As far as I am concerned, a showroom floor is the same as most any public space, unless the show specifically restricts photography, which I doubt it does. As the publisher of the photos, I will be responsible for any complaints should any ever be raised, but I don't anticipate that as we're all pretty easy going about such things I think.

OK, got it.

And I can help to coordinate and combine information people send in, so that it ends up a nice, cohesive whole. I'll hit you up backchannel in the next day or so with more info. So that will hopefully cover Dallas.

Bill,

Sounds good to me. I am not sure I will be able to be there from the start, as work schedule might mitigate; however, it might work to have a dual perspective. This will be my first pen show, and I assume/conclude from posts that you are a veteran of shows, at least the Dallas show. I do not have a video camera, or recording media, so my input would be strictly written. We could meet up at the nearest Starbucks and plan our "attack" on the show, or work on it backchannel or even on the forum in the open here. As many have said before, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail, so, we need to have a plan for coverage.

Donnie, I am slammed with work the next couple of days, but I will get a note to you back channel and we can start planning. I'm not exactly a "veteran" of this show -- I went last year, and the year before (that one was pretty small, and in a different location).

Were you going to send me some additional information? Two days to go, and Donnie and I need to make plans.
