Is there such a beast as a Calgary or Alberta Pen Club? Thanks.

Don't think so - but why not contact Mac in Alberta and Rowdy and talk one up Kath.

Better than joining some South Western Ontario Club. If Ontario were your choice, of course the OFPS would be the club of choice (Ottawa Fountain Pen Society). rolleyes.gif

Gerry,

I made the offer to OboeJuan as a friendly gesture to help her out.

For some reason, you have decided to slight the South Western Ontario Pen Club - "Better than joining some South Western Ontario Club". I am surprised by this attitude, particularly from someone who is part of the Admin. team. I/SWOPC have not denigrated your Ottawa Society in any way so why do so to ours?

I am also surprised at your offer to OboeJuan, who, being in Alberta, might find it difficult to meet your Ottawa Society's membership requirements as stated on their website - "Members must attend at least 5 meetings a year".

I struggled over whether to post this, however, I felt that your comment was flippant and could not stand. The people in the SWOPC are great people who have been extremely supportive and helpful to me in this hobby; it is only fair that I publicly defend an unfair and uncalled for remark about them.

Respectfully posted.

Thank you for the offer, but I went to your website and I am not eligible for membership in your club, as I cannot attend any meetings. I also compared the two clubs' websites and have decided to join the one with the fewest spelling mistakes. The first thing I noticed on your website was the mis-spelling of the word "Society". Later on I discovered "pennmanship". Since I assume that the members of the club have all seen the website, I am not heartened to see that nobody has thought to fix the errors since the site was designed in 2005. Typos happen, but surely, mis-spelling the name of the club would have been noticed and remedied by now.

Hi Kath,

You're right about low traffic in this section; I replied in Chatter and would never have noticed this if you hadn't cross-posted. I'm sort of an Inky Thoughts - Writing Instruments - Chatter kind of guy. There's a description that only makes sense on FPN.
Rowdy's in Calgary and there must be others as well. And the staff at Reid's might know of any club activity.

regards
Murdoch
