Full Version: cursive italic custom ground nibs versus factory B or stub nibs

I have a pilot with a factory b nib and an old Pelican (1970's) with a round top, probably equivalent to a M2xx? with factory stub nib. If I were to by a cursive italic nib form one of the skilled nibmeisters would it write differently, ie smoother. I find the edge of the nibs impairs normal wrriting unless I angle the nib paper and my hand when writing. If the cursive italics have a smoother edge it may be worth buying one
I appreciate the opinions of you experts
IS it easier for a non skilled writer to get line variation with a stub or a flex nib?
Thank you

Some factory stubs are very smooth. My Duponts have factory stubs and are quite smooth. A cursive italic from a nibmeister should be very smooth if you request it. The more "edge" the more writing variation. If you are a new writer, a flexy isn't that easy to use. A stub is better. I still can't make a flexi point do what I want and I've been using a fountain pen for many years.
