Full Version: Who is FPNs biggest OMAS collector?
The Fountain Pen Network > Regional Focus > Penne Stilografiche della Bella Italia
omasfan
OMAS is the brand that fascinates me the most. I have 10 OMAS fountain pens (eight different celluloid colors and two resins). This is more pens than from any other maker I own (Pelikan with seven pens is next in my collection). While this is a very neat selection, it definitely does not turn me into FPNs greatest OMAS collector.

So, who is it? Who has all those OMASes that we have been dreaming about? Who is the OMAS maven on here? If you own up to that status, you might become my favorite FPN member roflmho.gif

It isn't me!!!! I only have 7 Omas pens.

I've no idea; but if they'd like to make themselves the second biggest collector, I'd be to happy to assist.

Not me either, I only have 12 Omas and none of them qualify as collectible... well, perhaps these ones are not that common after all:

Alejandro, beautiful pens! puddle.gif

Do you know who did the lacquer work on the lacquer pen? What is it made of?

Also, is the Cinema the same celluloid rod as the standard pearl-grey color?
acfrery
Hi Dupontfan,

Sorry, I have no conclusive answers for your questions.

The Blue Lacquer with Gold Brushes (that is the name I found) was made for the Oriental market. I recently saw it advertised as "maki-e", but I do not know if it is the case. It is a big pen (longer than a MB 149), the shape of an Omas Ogiva.

I have not seen grey Omas celluloid in person but the few pictures I have seen look exactly like The Cinema, so probably they are made of the same material.

Once upon a time I have quite a bit of Omas, some rare, some not so rare. I have sold off most in attempt to streamline my collection and have more focus. Now I just have a few Omas that I still keep as good writers. But here are some of my Omas at one point. Enjoy the pics:

75th Ogiva (still have)

Royal Selangor (sold)

18kt solid gold paragon (can't bring myself to use this pen, so sold it)

Bibliotheque, still own

Omas mezzo

Omas safron paragon, sold

Red paragon, still own

black paragon x 2 still have

Still have this one

Vermeil paragon, sold it

Vermail 1931, too small, sold it

75th T2, love this baby

Arlechino, sold

Erccolessi, gave it to my brother

Omas Jerusalem, sold

Russian Empire, sold

Not pictured and still own:
Omas Roma
Omas Marconi Blue
Omas Marconi Silver

Not me. Only 7: 3 resin/4 celluloid. All are the older model paragons as I have not yet had the chance to look at the redesign.

Bibliotheque,

Is that Bibliotheque discoloring or is it a trick of the light?

Well I certainly do not qualify as the biggest collector with only 2 OMAS pens, but one is a MoMA. The other is a Autunno Ogiva. MY dream pen is the Bronze Arco Paragon (old style.)

Certainly not me.

Only have two - a blue Roma 2000 Giubileo and a black Extra Demonstrator, filled with blue (Waterman Florida Blue) and black (Quink Black) inks respectively. But these are my daily users and both are the only pens that line my shirt pocket, if it's any measure of where they stand in the order of importance and priority.

But I really hope to one day procure the Royal Selangor (as the one in Kevin's wonderful pic puddle.gif )... I understand it's a very limited edition commissioned by the previous Sultan of the state (of Selangor) where I was born, and currently live in smile.gif ....

Not me!

Only 5 little pens from the Celluloid collection live here, and I'm actually not much interested in collecting anything else from Omas. Well, maybe just the Venice Carnivale LE...

Bibliotheque,

It's the lighting. The piston on the pen needs repair, so I sent it to Omas spa in Italy, while there, they also clean out the ink stain around the section.

Hi,

Cannot match Kelvin's collection. He's an amazing collector.
I only have this Omas Set of 15 nibs.
This set comes with one paragon pen and 2 ink bottles, of only one contains ink.
This set was meant for customers to try the various nibs from omas.
Try, like it and order.
Hope the picture comes through. My first.

Holy cow Ernest! thumbup.gif

Do the Omas nibs thread in and out fairly easily?

As to the OP, I only own one Omas, an '05 Paragon with HT trim, but it is an excellent pen. A bit heavy, sometimes I'm scared I'll drop it, but it is so gorgeous I don't think I can sell it.
Ernest
Hi Johnson,

The Nibs thread in rather easily. However, I apply a touch of silicon to the thread to prevent leaks.
BTW: The 4 nibs on the right had these words labelled on the nibs : "Extra Flexible".
They are soft rather flexible , nothing like the flex of vintage nibs.

So, Ernest wins as the most successful OMAS nib/feed collector! roflmho.gif

But is there NOBODY here who owns at least some 100 OMAS pens??? crybaby.gif

I am getting concerned.... bawl.gif

What colors are your 360s?

And, what colors are your Bolognas? They were only available in three colors on the American market, but I knew that in Italy you could have them in almost all celluloid color (except for the Arco pattern).

Royale Blue, Saft Green, Scarlet Red, Burkina, Pearl Grey, and I have an Autumn on the way. I bought most of them from Novelli in Rome. The only color I didn't manage to get because it's no longer available is Saffron Blue.
