Full Version: Does the Townsend write like the Apogee?

I have an Apogee Staccato (medium nib) that I adore for its very wet, fluid line, particularly with Cross black. Great nib.

I'm interested in getting a Townsend as well, also medium nib. Can I expect the same writing characteristics?

I've never written with an Apogee, but I have a Townsend (medium 18K nib) and it's very smooth and wet. One of my favorites.

If you like the Apogee, you'll really, really, really, love the Townsend. Hefty, balanced, smooth, wet line.

You won't be sorry.

Best regards,

from what i understand, the apogee nib is made by pilot and the townsend is a bock nib. both excellent but different. get the townsend.

I've got more Pilots than I can count, and I find it hard to believe the Apogee nib is made by them. It's utterly unlike any Pilot I've ever tried.
TEG
look into it, pilot makes the atx and verve nibs too.

Nibs are made to exact specifications, which are written up by the pen company's technical people, so who actually makes them is irrelevant. A company can make totally different nibs for different client companies.

I have a Townsend with a gold-plated stainless steel nib, fine width, and it, too, is very smooth and wet. My nib is quite springy/delicate; definitely not a nail. The nib is springier than my Century II with gold-plated stainless steel nib, medium width.

When posted, I find it a bit heavy, but the barrel is long enough that I'm comfortable writing unposted.

Sorry, no experience with the Apogee...
