I have a nice Targa, but I often get a blue finger top if I touch the upper part of the inlaid nib while writing.

Now I have found with a tissue that the nib leaks ink at the lower inside diamond.

Can this be resealed?

Thanks,
Hans.
PS, the picture if part of the image of Penhero in the pinned Targa re-issue topic.

It can be done. It is not a job for an amateur. It has been so long since I last had an inlaid nib reset that the late Fr. Terry performed the repair. I'm sure many of our repair people are capable. If I were you I'd probably send an email to Richard Binder asking about the fee and turn-around time for this repair.

Richards pays me no commission. laugh.gif laugh.gif I'm just a satisfied customer.

Or buy a replacement nib from Sheaffer.com, which still has Targa nibs for sale. The stainless are $25. steve

Unfortunatelly my Targa has thesame problems. I've gave it 3-4 thimes for repair (nib replaicement) and this problem always returns. Some times afther some months of usage, some times just afther I take it back from a repair. I even have written one topic about my problems. From what I have been said modern sheaffers nib are simply not as good as they used to be.

I thing that if it is not a big leak (e.g. section isinked) one can siurvie it. At least I can.

BTW, I've also heard that Sheaffer is gong to produce Inlay nibs on its own once again, becouse of poor quality of other suplyers, but I'm not sure if it is not just a rumor.

I hope you will have a better luck. Ather all Targa its very nice pen.

There were a few old "Pen Doctor" posts on Pentrace that dealt with leaking Targa nibs:

Keep in mind that these are from 2003 and some newer methods/products may have been created since then smile.gif

Hi,

I had a stubborn case return three times once for sealing. This problem seems to be predominant in Targas for some reason. I haven't yet had a PFM or Imperial come back to me for resealing after I sealed it once.

When my Triumph Imperial started leaking I just ordered a replacement nib from Sheaffer. Because Sheaffer no longer had gold Targa nibs in stock, I chose to have my Targa repaired. That repair has held for 7 years.
