Introducing myself after being a member for nearly a year smile.gif

I grew up using fountain pens all the way through high school. In my childhood, ball points were considered "bad" for handwriting. Computers weren't PCs, and typing was on a typewriter. My handwriting was terrible, and my dad made me practice cursive on handwriting books over a couple of summer holidays (which I did in the last week, with the help of my cousins wink.gif ). It became better, although not that great.

Anyway after writing with ball points most of my adult life, I rediscovered FPs and this great site and community. Wonderful to see the knowledge, sense of community and helping thoughts all round.

I bought a Pelikan M215 last year, and lost it at an airport sad.gif It wrote beautifully after a Chartpak round trip. I loved it. Now I have a Pelikan M605 and a Waterman Phileas. I'm hooked, and only use BPs to address envelopes or sign checks, which 'll give up too, once I acquire some bulletproof ink. Will post a picture if I get to take one shortly.

Hope to get to know more of you.

Cheers

I'm glad you decided to de-lurk smile.gif Can't beat a good Pelikan!! FPN has sure cost me some cash! I now want pens I never knew existed. It's all a lot of fun! Try some of the noodlers bullet proof ink and I think you will like it! Enjoy FPN and I look forward to seeing you future posts!

Greetings and welcome, my fellow Northern Virginian(er).

I'm from NOVA as well; Manassas, VA to be exact. I'm sure you'll have a great time on the board. Your love for FP's will probably grow, and your wallet will shrink. tongue.gif

Just kidding (maybe)!

Blessings,
Dave

Yeah, Welcome to FPN. Northern Virginia isn't a bad place for FPs - so close to DC. I suppose you went to the pen show a few weeks ago? I need to get to one someday...

Welcome -- I lived in NoVa for years, and miss it terribly, though I hear it's changed a lot since I last left.

Go ahead and address your envelopes with fountain pens...and rub a plain white candle over the text, like a big crayon. It protects the text, is not obvious on the paper, and allows you to play with FPs even more. Whole postcards can be waxed over in this manner. Keep away from those BPs wherever you can thumbup.gif
