I am relatively new to the fountain pen world and have only just started "feeding the beast." TFPN is great, very informative
I am a lefty and was wondering if there is anything i need to be aware when shopping for pens. If so, is there a thread on this that i can refer to?

A big welcome to FPN Fierdog. I can't provide any info RE: being a lefty, since I'm not but I'm sure you'll run across others here who can.
Hope you enjoy your new found love of fountain pens. This is a great place to nourish the 'beast', as you put it.

Clancy

p.s. you might try using the FPN search feature regarding your question. Good luck

Hello and welcome to FPN! There's a small but solid number of us from the Boston area...

Try using the search function and look for "boston pen stores", we've discussed the local retail places over time.

Welcome to FPN. Oh, I have a question for you. Why do you find the best looking women in New England in Boston? Only an observation I made many a long year ago when I was a young man and took great interest in such things.

Thank you.
As for the women, i expect it's because of the high density of educational institutions bringing in young folks from all over.

Hi Fierdog! What an interesting name. What does it mean?
There is something you shoud be aware of when looking for pens: leave your wallet home unless you want to be permanently poor.

This is a dangerous hobby. It makes paupers out of princes but they sure have fun along the way!

The type of pen will make little difference to a lefty or a righty. More important is if you are a lefty overwriter, you need to use ink and paper that dry very fast so you don't smear what you have just written.

Some leftys also favor an oblique nib depending how they hold the pen.

If you do a search on FPN there is lots of material about left handed writers, challenges, solutions, etc.

Welcome to FPN and enjoy your time with us!

It doesn't mean anything, really; just a nickname i picked up along the way.

Believe me, I know about the finaniacal costs of the habit, what i'm learning about is the alienation of having a wife who thinks you're crazy.
