At 4 1/8" x 5 3/4" this journal by XONEX (xonexpens.com) is very comparable to the Moleskine Journals that I love so
much, it’s an alternative as a flexible “semi-hard shell” journal. This journal is part of the XONEX “ru” line and the cover is
embossed “latex infused” American made paper with 128 pages of blank Italian made acid free paper in between. Think
wax cover if there was one, but not overly grippy, just a nice feel.




I paid 6$ at a high end bookstore and I am sure it can be found cheaper, maybe. The paper is very similar in weight and
color compared to Moleskine paper. My rust colored journal also, has a hidden pocket and elastic strap, it’s all put together in
China and very well done for the money.




If you Google this journal you can find a review on it and in this review this notebook gets kinda’ hammered. I do not agree
entirely with it because, I think for 6$ retail this small journal will do very well out in the “field” (wet weather included).
However, I do agree with one thing the reviewer commented on, the paper in this journal is very high quality. As far as
fountain pens go, xxf through fine nib pens are recommended with this wonderful, high-end, smooth paper.

Of course it's impossible to buy these notebooks here in Poland - I ordered a small batch directly from the Xonex. Their customer service is outstanding! Never had any more positive experience Notebooks are very nice but I haven't tried the paper yet...

I have the Ru in baby blue; bought for the same price in SF. I thought it was made in Australia; think because it had a picture of a kangaroo on the display.

The cover shows it's wear and tear, especially on the edges. It ends up looking frayed and dirty. For this reason, I only use it to make throw away information. The paper, on the other hand, takes all my fountain pen writings and drawings without bleed thru or smears. Still, I don't plan to buy any more of these.
