HI all,

Just wanted to say hi.

I`m Harv Stembridge I live in the Isle of Man and I collect all sorts of fountain pens, I have a few Sheaffers, a coupla imperials a much maligned but actually quite nice Stylist and an Admiral tip fil.

Also like Mabie Todd Swans of which again I have a few. Not forgetting Parkers, Watermans and one MontBlanc.

I get a lot from eBay as I`m sure we all do rolleyes.gif but fortunately I also repair them as well which nets me a few keepers from time to time smile.gif

I have one Parker which is driving me nuts at the mo I cant for the life of me figure it out, so will take a pic and post it on the relevant Parker forum see if anyone can help.

Anyways nice to see such an active board, I am looking forward to being a part of it.

Welcome!

It must be nice to be able to repair fps for yourself. I don't dare get into it; aside from spending all my money on pens themselves, I spend it on jewelrymaking tools, which don't quite cross over wink.gif

You'll find a seemingly unlimited amount of reinforcement for your addiction information here!

As someone said to me when I joined: Nice to see the British contingent growing. Or is the IOM British? I'm, not quite sure of its status. Is it in the EU or not? Is it part of the UK but not part of Britain - personal property of the Crown? Please enlighten me. If I'm confused, our American friends must be slack-jawed by now.

Welcome, I keep wondering about trying repairs, but haven't really had the nerve to try anything yet, but have a few non workers so may give it a go, as really nothing to lose.

Changing an ink sac on a level filler looks 'easy' (at least compared to a vac or similar so may try with an old Burnham I have, already taken apart just need a sac and to work out how to put it back togteher again.

Hmmm It depends.. If you ask a true indigenous Manxman then the answer is "totally nothing to with the English" If on the other hand you ask an Englishman then the answer is somewhat less emotionally charged and factual... Its a crown dependency with a certain degree of self government and autonomy but.. and this is a big BUT it needs the relationship with the U.K more than the U.K needs the relationship with it..
The whole U.K . Brit ..English thing is something else hehehe.. its about as clear as the rules of cricket... I am English .. born in England... I am also part of the U.K as my country of birth is.... I am not in my opinion British as I consider that term reserved for peeps born outside of England BUT inside what was the British empire...or of course those who endeavour to be politically correct heheh roflmho.gif Best to be eccentric and a touch mad imho..

Hi Andy.
Just clean the old muck outta the barrel clean off the nipple get a sac superglue it on dust lightly with talc and shove it back in the pressure bar (the bit which squeezes the sac when you work the lever) place the whole lot back in the barrel and hopefully that is that....good luck

Might I suggest that attempting to find a certain island between the Isle of Mann and the Cumbrian coast with a large contingent of colorful steam-powered transportation might get you a little - wet?

Though, according to the Church of England, it is the Diocese of Sodor and Man.

If you are looking for Thomas, try Strassburg Pennsylvania.

Hmm me thinks tis more like the diocese of soddom and gomorra... Or, more often described as 75000 alcaholics clinging to a rock in the middle of the Irish sea... thumbup.gif

Oh good, I still belong, seeing that I'm surrounded by mountains (Valley of the Sun here). And they're big tough black ones full of scorpions, too, so don't mess with us Phoenicians ninja.gif
